Women Entrepreneurs

If I knew 10 years ago (or even five years ago) that today, I’d be working for myself and with other women entrepreneurs, then I would have done things differently. For starters, I would have treated my then hobbies more seriously.

Let me backtrack a little bit. When I say ‘working for myself,’ I can’t help but ask — is that really a thing? Seriously, as a freelance web designer and SEO professional, I work for the success of others. Therefore, my time is always spent doing activities to ensure their success.

Image of a quote that says “you always pass failure on your way to success”.

It just so happens that most of my clients are other women entrepreneurs. I’m not sure if I did that intentionally, but I certainly don’t mind. We all share common challenges which bind us to a sisterhood rather than the usual mundane professional relationship.

Working in a Male-Dominated Industry

Have you ever worked in a male-dominated industry? I have, and it leaves little to be desired. There is always someone watching you closer than you’d like or belittling your knowledge and experience. And if you’re in a position of authority, then it gets trickier. I held plenty of positions in the factory that I worked at before they closed the plant.

That’s when I started building WordPress and Shopify websites as a hobby. Building eCommerce stores and blogs were fun and challenging. Little did I know that I’d turn to do that as a business. With less than a year of mentally claiming my goals, I’ve been able to build a business that helps others get started and grow their online presence.

So now, I’m operating a one-woman company in Northeast Ohio and partner with other freelancers and professional services as needed. The best part is I’m having a blast while doing it!
